now, that said, [Poll #201572]
the thing with * is that in practice, a humor columnist is often humorous, and a humorous columnist is often a humorist, that is to say, a humor columnist as opposed to a columnist who happened to come out humorous in one way or another. but the main thing is that it seems to me that a humor columnist is a writer of humorous columns, while a humorous columnist is a column-writer who is also humorous. it needn't be his columns that are humorous to qualify for the appellation. he could have an adorablish tendency to forget the punchline of jokes, which invariably made people laugh at him, but produce horribly dry columns on engine repair.
