+recently pink said that xtina copied her by reinventing herself, with perry's aid, for her second album after pink had done that with misundaztood. (so now writing your own lyrics is a derivative act? or working with linda perry? or is it just the combination of the two?) she said (obviously falsely) that she doesn't mind because 'some people are just leaders and some people are just followers.'

+xtina said she was surprised by pink's statement because pink seems to be her biggest copycat. 'everytime i turn around,' said xtina artlessly, 'it's like, ohmygod, didn't i wear that yesterday?'

+assume that the lyrics ARE about xtina. your speculation should immediately take you to these questions--is pink really that self-deluded (or knowledgable about xtina, where we are not)? does she really think xtina is fake? does she really think being original is somehow copying? wtf is going on here? and is xtina really on crack?

+i think this is screaming to be made into femmeslash. there's some extremely serious bad blood here that we're not seeing on-stage, as it were. pink had a crush. xtina dissed her. what happened? go forth and write. no, seriously, i'm thinking about it, and thinking about writing it, and what i want to know is... what does everyone else think happened?

edit: for instance, the lines 'you don't give a fuck,' 'you don't react,' 'i coulda taught you so much'--suggest a bitter ex. or perhaps a sort of start of a relationship that ended badly before it got off its feet.

christina aguilera is, IMO, much better artistically than britney. more versatile, too. she's going to last. she's got the voice, she's intelligent, strong-minded, talented, and pretty savvy. britney is a ditz, though possessed of a certain savvy in judgment--a kind of cunning, as i interpret it, without really grasping all the implications of anything.

I agree...Christina can actually sing. Britney really can't. At least not to the extent that Christina does. I think Britney just has better handlers. They get her on the right shows.

And it always struck me as strange that Britney and Madonna got a lot of public attention for that kiss, when Christina was in on it, too. And now Madonna helped Britney make her last album, which seems to lend it credibility, except I lost faith in Madonna after that song where she looked like she was trying to turn into a crow...

Anyway, since you like all these pop star chicks, what do you think of Kelly Clarkson?

i don't think she's really pop. i think she's adult contemporary; and i don't like that kind of music very much. i like her as a person, though, and i think she's not too unintelligent. her voice is okay, but she overstylizes and i HATE that song 'a moment like this.'

God, so do I. Hate "A moment like this" I mean. Clarkson's voice beats all the pop stars out right now, but that song was evil incarnate.

I'm not sure about overstylizing--I mean, I always consider that to be when a person goes for the intricate additions and misses, but Kelly can actually hit them.

i'd say overstylizing was using too many of them. it's a flaw of the let's-copy-christina-aguilera school of singing from which ms. aguilera herself is not exempt.
