i went into town and spent an hour there despite annoying heat and my stomach being upset. obtained medicine and soap and a number of books including bored of the rings. it's juvenile, but funny. in some ways my sense of humor is strikingly juvenile, but in others it's all snobby. just like meeeeeeeeee! it's actually cooled off again. yay.

Have they re-issued it, then? I have a 1969 copy, presumably one of the first editions. What does the cover look like, and is there a new introduction?

what I should say is that my parents have a copy, but since I organized the books & am the only one who knows all of what we have I think of them as mine. haven't actually read Bored of the Rings, as when I first found it I hadn't read the trilogy & was too young to find it funny.

yeah, it's a new edition with a cartoon cover of gandalf in a purple robe and converse sneakers sitting in a rocker in front of a fireplace, and frodo sweeping dirt under the hearth rug. gandalf has a cigar and a smily face button on his hat, a watch, a lot of playing cards hidden on him, and a bunny peeping out from under his robes.
