I had no idea it was a US/UK divide, to be honest. I wasn't paying that much attention, obviously.

*bounces* It was one of those stories where I remember sitting down with it open in the file, but I have no conscious memory of writing anything past the first two lines or so. It finished itself and then smacked me round the head with itself and said I could have my hands back and go to bed. They always turn out best when I'm not in control.

heee. that reminds me of a really silly quote from northrop frye, something about how the 'poet' (read: author--cause he's pompous) is not the mother of his piece of fiction but 'the womb of mother earth herself: her midwife, he,' blahblahblah something about and if it's a healthy story once it's been born it 'squalls' to be cut free of the umbilical cord and 'strings of ego.' ::cough::
