amanuensis wrote nemo/gill too! (or actually, mine isn't finished yet.) this is chan. and it has sex. and the voices are very good.

i want more people to jump on the bandwagon here. rrr. as some wise soul said in her comments, if they didn't want him slashed, they shouldn't've hired willem dafoe to voice him.

They hired Willem Dafoe to voice him? I thought they hired Agent Smecker. ;)

*snerk* hee hee... I'm glad I'm not the only one who's noticed that about Defoe. What is it about him?

it's something about a silky, yet occasionally uneven rich baritone... .

No, it's more than that... he somehow brings a homoerotic subtext to a lot of things he does, even if (I think) it's not supposed to be there.

But yes, the voice.. and also the eyes and that mouth. I thought it funny that they kept a lot of his facial features in Gil.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmh.

you're right.

but i maintain that the baritone enough would be enough. i mean, if alan rickman, or viggo mortensen, or... um, i'm running out of people, but. you get the idea. if someone else with a sexeh voice had done it, it'd get a similar reaction.

the plot wasn't free of suggestiveness though.

Heh. Well I wasn't really think of Nemo. I personally did not see much suggestiveness in Nemo though now I will (grumble giggle). I was more thinking of things like Platoon and Last Temptation of Christ and I'm not sure what else. Not AutoFocus as that was intentional. He said some very interesting things in an interview about Spider-Man but it didn't show up in the movie so much.

spider-man is the only movie of his i've seen.

i'm not saying finding nemo is rife with subtext or anything, just that there are some canonical elements that can be suggestive. their obvious attachment to one another, the way nemo clearly swims the ring of fire only to impress gill, gill's sacrifice for nemo's sake, the fact that he's sort of the catalyst for nemo's growing up.
