king arthur
9 Jul 2004 01:09 amsaw king arthur. yes, it was incoherent, but still i reserve several varieties of squee: lancelot's sullenness and overall good looks, guinevere's badassness and overall good looks, a lot of the dialogue, the BROTHERLY LOVE OMG between arthur and lancelot, and the coolness of the gruff villain. his son was a lame-o, but what can you do? nonetheless, the whole thing was sort of painful, especially by the end. it was like a lot of really awesome quilt squares sewn together into a lumpy, too-small, uneven-edged quilt.
dear antoine fuqua:
condolences.

and lancelot! DYING! in legend doesn't he stay alive, and, like, have an affair with gwin? i realize they cut that out, and i believe his fascination was one of those 'oh shit, i KNEW when arthur fell he was gonna fall hard, and she's JUST EXACTLY the type, isn't she?' things. and in a tone of disgust and grudging respect, perhaps. ok, granted, the death scene? rivalled, uh, previously unrivalled things for friendshippy love and smush and wobbly-inducing moments but DAMMIT why couldn't he have just been mortally wounded??? i wanted him to dandle their babies on his knee. ::wahhh:: plus the ending was pasted on really REALLY badly and they sort of emasculated keira after all her valiant efforts, and the help of some cool writing early on, to make that character a really kick-ass strong woman.
