i really want an mp3 player.  preferably an ipod, even though i have reservations cause i don't like apples at all, but ipods are like the sony of mp3s, natch.  i mean, thirteen hours transatlantic is really HELL and switching cds and batteries makes it a lot worse. 

my sister inherits my mostly!dead laptop.  she's so silly she'll probably try to actually USE it.

i can't download on 56K anymore--the pain is just too great.

Seriously though, they have no flaws. Except for that whole "hefty price tag" thing. I finally caved and bought one when I realized I was going to be flying over the entire Pacific Ocean - twice.

gaaaah. well, i would, but i don't have $200. cause i definitely desire one. i feel that i NEED it: a cd player is just Not On. one cd at a TIME? switching off? for twelve hours?

however, mom says that they're not allowed as airline carry-on any longer--that they present a security risk or, uh, something. she said it was on the news very recently. >.>

my iPod runs out of juice in less than 10 hours. Not quite transatlantic, though just about covers European.

But ... security risk? WTF? Had no trouble taking it to Copenhagen recently, though had to switch it off during take-off and landing.

i hear you can plug it in at airports, but not run it on batteries! how annoying! however, i don't have genes for listening for ten hours straight. and the portion from (chicago or wherever) to (stockholm or wherever) has in my experience been more like 8h.

i'll discard that security hazard as my mom's raving.
