of course the online friends are real, but i'm sure the shrink's point is that it can't be the only human contact cim has (ie the RELATIONSHIPS aren't real). since her roommates are never in the room and her interests are limited to solitary activities confined to her bedroom(writing homosexual fiction, reading sci fi novels and taking "what utensil am i?" quizzes), perhaps the shrink is worried that cim is becoming a hermit, something i'm sure you all will agree is not healthy.

ok, one, i wouldn't call the quizzes an interest.

two, it's sf, as i said just a few days ago.

three, my interests aren't confined to my room. i go out dancing about once a week, which is as often as i went out in high school when i belonged to an exclusive little clique. i'm reserved and quiet and intellectual. i'm not socially anxious. and i don't substitute online interaction for interaction in real life. last year, i spent all the the time that i now spend on lj and im reading and writing and doing homework, which i had more of. i have no clique, but just as much face-to-face interaction, and far less alone-ness, because i spend lots of time interacting online. which doesn't include body language, and yes, is different, but not at all invalid.

oh. ok, well, i feel somewhat threatened by the whole anonymous thing, for some reason. and i had the suspicion you might be some evil person i actually know. i'm sorry for snapping at you. the reason you can post is because i didn't disable anonymous posting. i'm not sure what the question was, there.

oh, hm. ok, well, you can either buy an account, or get a code from someone you know who has one. they cost, like... $20? 25? something like that. for the year. then you can have 10 icons; the free accounts, which you get with a code, have 3.

i have a limited number of them. each user is only allowed to invite a certain number of other users. it's not just *a* code but a specific one.
