omg i figured out how to do some of the advanced customizations for s2.  now my journal has european style dates (call me compulsive but that was driving me nuts) and 40 entries per page, and custom comment links.  i couldn't figure out how to enable the links list for the style (variation), since it wasn't already enabled, and i couldn't figure out how to hard code the links in myself.  the style's source does not look much of anything like html.

That's because it isn't html. LJ wrote their own object based language for the new styles, not dissimilar to java. Well done on working out how to change anything with S2, I wasn't game to even try to learn the damn language.

i didn't do any of the language, but there were some commands in the core profile that i was able to basically cut and paste.

set linklist_support = true;

at least, if the style you're using supports link lists. if it doesn't, you'll need to code a links list function yourself. (if it does, it ought to have a "links list support" option somewhere under customization!)

wah it doesn't support links. the coding it myself is what i spent a long bewildered time trying to figure out how to do, staring at the core code and the source code of the style and. stuff.

he called me back later and acted like nothing had happened. he said he was mad because i spent the whole entire weekend with my family and he hadn't seen me since thursday. he still managed to avoid saying the actual words, but what else is new? he loves me. i'm tired.

augh.

jealous of your family? puhleeze! not that i can't understand a little bit... i mean, that feeling like you just wish X would spend time with NO ONE BUT you, and doing NOTHING but spending time with you. and if you want to be around them and they don't also want that it's all 'wah.' but still, one has family obligations, and one loves one's family, so it's best to just lie back and take it for the sake of ... stuff.

i'll try to comment more. i dunno. i just... don't comment on anybody's posts very much. it doesn't always occur to me to respond at all.

yes, well, his family is the opposite of ours in most every way, but especially when it comes to how they relate to each other. they are anything but close, and he doesn't understand family bonding and obligations and wanting-to-be-togetherness. I feel rather bad for him sometimes. he would have benefitted from a more compassionate mother and a more sober father, I do believe.

so sad. wax has, like. she has a sense of family obligation like she HAS to do stuff but she never WANTS to. she doesn't like any of them. sucks.

I've been using S2 for over a year, and it still confuses me. I'm not sure it's possible to have a link list with Varaible Flow, but if it was someone on [livejournal.com profile] s2variableflow might know how to do it.
