isn't it alarming when an author produces a really good story and then, later, a really bad one?  i mean, you wonder--was it chance the first time around?  has part of her brain been consumed by some kind of brain-sucking alien?  will her next be even worse than this one?  what if i'm getting worse too, and simply can't tell? 

stay tuned until next week, when none of these questions will be resolved... .

i mean, more than just the average variation if you occasionally produce something better than your usual--i think we all do that.
