a storm is coming

the animals sense it. i presume lily's taken her habitual station between wax's stomach and knees. tea's crawled into my lap and keeps initiating worried little conversations. in fact she started next to my lap and is now snuggled up to my knees. i kept hearing the faint tinkle of perry's collar ornaments, but i couldn't see him in either of his blankety nests, on the couch or the spare armchair. finally i dislodged her to get up and check ("mraaaaaiiiiow you bitch!"), but before i could even stand saw perry huddled so close to the base of my armchair he was invisible unless i craned sideways. he gave me a nervous look, so i brought him a blanket and a pillow and covered him up. now he emits a little sigh a few times a minute and tea's ears twitch at every sound in the room, and at every loud gust of rain on the windows.
