okay, so gary oldman and tim roth

, so clearly tim roth should play remus! wouldn't that be great? i mean. love... love! it's perfect.
meanwhile someone slash them for me. cause there they were in rosencrantz and guildenstern are dead, having chemistry; and it was so poignant and sad and sweet, and now this, and they're tangled up in my mind.
p.s. do click the cut; the images are too cute for words. AHAHAH an 'explanation'
eta: omg, they've starred together before! and then at imdb.
eta: ahaha, he once starred opposite dougray scott--my pick for remus to star opposite rufus sewell!

Interestingly, on this side of the pond Roth formed an equally faithful alliance with Gary Oldman, a star with whom he shares more than a passing comparison. Both actors were raised in South London; both made a name for themselves essaying working-class, unstable men (and made their reputation playing punks); and both have excited critics on the other side of the Atlantic with flawless American accents.
They first met 11 years ago while working on Meantime. "Here was this quiet, laid-back, long-haired geezer," recalls Roth, and "after a few weeks of top-secret isolated improvization, in storms this loony skinhead drinking a pint of milk." An on-set improvization saw Oldman hurl the milk bottle at Roth, who threw it back and put Oldman into hospital. To hear Roth tell it, Gary "was really proud of the scar he got, said it suited him really nicely."
Later, the duelling duo took the title roles in the film version of Tom Stoppard's acclaimed stage play Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead -- and acted co-star Richard Dreyfuss off the screen. Today, Roth is proud of his mate's success, but points out that he, Roth, made the cover of Sight and Sound first. And, he philosophizes, "I like Gary being up there. The more parts he turns down, the more are likely to come my way." -james cameron-wilson here

Date: 2 Feb 2004 08:56 pm (UTC)just a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittle ficlet, if that makes you feel better! then we would both have motivation to write them and when we were done there'd be a few hundred words of oldman/roth slash in the universe. which would automatically make the universe a more beautiful place, n'est c'pas?

Date: 2 Feb 2004 09:35 pm (UTC)but yes, there really are. the actors first met in 1983 (i think. uh. yeah. 83) where they co-starred in a tv movie called meantime, in which gary played a skinhead who tim started hanging out with. the movie's about tim's parents' 'increasing concern for him' as he falls under gary's influence. then in 1990, rosencrantz & guildenstern are dead; then in, oh, 1993 or so, gary oldman said in an interview, when asked who he found attractive, tim (among other people, i believe). and tim apparently saw because he was photographed with G.O. I THINK YOU'RE SEXY on his face--i don't have that photo. then gary's photo came next, then tim's GARY OLDMAN LET'S DO IT. when asked why they communicated by writing on body parts gary told someone that that was 'the most convenient way' for them to communicate.
there's this great bit in r&g, the movie, where rosencrantz reaches out and polishes an apple he's about to eat on guildenstern's chest. guildenstern (tim)'s little FACE! oh, MAN, to have the dvd and screencapping software.

Date: 2 Feb 2004 10:19 pm (UTC)i like how they always got their own names confused.... i never ended up knowing who was who, though i had a vague idea. so rosencrantz is gary oldman and guildenstern is tim roth. okay. i actually ended up getting the play out at the library today, i couldn't resist. i probably SHOULD resist reading it, at least for tonight, but i can't wait.
if you find caps, you should definetely post them. they are too cute.
