okay, so gary oldman and tim roth

, so clearly tim roth should play remus! wouldn't that be great? i mean. love... love! it's perfect.
meanwhile someone slash them for me. cause there they were in rosencrantz and guildenstern are dead, having chemistry; and it was so poignant and sad and sweet, and now this, and they're tangled up in my mind.
p.s. do click the cut; the images are too cute for words. AHAHAH an 'explanation'
eta: omg, they've starred together before! and then at imdb.
eta: ahaha, he once starred opposite dougray scott--my pick for remus to star opposite rufus sewell!
eta:
Interestingly, on this side of the pond Roth formed an equally faithful alliance with Gary Oldman, a star with whom he shares more than a passing comparison. Both actors were raised in South London; both made a name for themselves essaying working-class, unstable men (and made their reputation playing punks); and both have excited critics on the other side of the Atlantic with flawless American accents.
They first met 11 years ago while working on Meantime. "Here was this quiet, laid-back, long-haired geezer," recalls Roth, and "after a few weeks of top-secret isolated improvization, in storms this loony skinhead drinking a pint of milk." An on-set improvization saw Oldman hurl the milk bottle at Roth, who threw it back and put Oldman into hospital. To hear Roth tell it, Gary "was really proud of the scar he got, said it suited him really nicely."
Later, the duelling duo took the title roles in the film version of Tom Stoppard's acclaimed stage play Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead -- and acted co-star Richard Dreyfuss off the screen. Today, Roth is proud of his mate's success, but points out that he, Roth, made the cover of Sight and Sound first. And, he philosophizes, "I like Gary being up there. The more parts he turns down, the more are likely to come my way." -james cameron-wilson here

Date: 2 Feb 2004 09:26 pm (UTC)the more i recall (which is very little, actually), the more potential i see there is. at least for something short. i wonder if i can do cute/sweet? i don't think i have before, heh.

Date: 2 Feb 2004 09:35 pm (UTC)but yes, there really are. the actors first met in 1983 (i think. uh. yeah. 83) where they co-starred in a tv movie called meantime, in which gary played a skinhead who tim started hanging out with. the movie's about tim's parents' 'increasing concern for him' as he falls under gary's influence. then in 1990, rosencrantz & guildenstern are dead; then in, oh, 1993 or so, gary oldman said in an interview, when asked who he found attractive, tim (among other people, i believe). and tim apparently saw because he was photographed with G.O. I THINK YOU'RE SEXY on his face--i don't have that photo. then gary's photo came next, then tim's GARY OLDMAN LET'S DO IT. when asked why they communicated by writing on body parts gary told someone that that was 'the most convenient way' for them to communicate.
there's this great bit in r&g, the movie, where rosencrantz reaches out and polishes an apple he's about to eat on guildenstern's chest. guildenstern (tim)'s little FACE! oh, MAN, to have the dvd and screencapping software.

Date: 2 Feb 2004 10:19 pm (UTC)i like how they always got their own names confused.... i never ended up knowing who was who, though i had a vague idea. so rosencrantz is gary oldman and guildenstern is tim roth. okay. i actually ended up getting the play out at the library today, i couldn't resist. i probably SHOULD resist reading it, at least for tonight, but i can't wait.
if you find caps, you should definetely post them. they are too cute.

Date: 3 Feb 2004 03:45 pm (UTC)if we spent the time we spend exchanging comments on writing fic you and i would both be pretty prolific. not that i advocate stopping but... yeah.
(no subject)
Date: 3 Feb 2004 03:48 pm (UTC)heh. it's true. i wonder about that... i spend so much time doing, um, a lot of nothing, really. but i wouldn't have nearly as many friends if i gave up commenting, so it's a sacrifice i'm willing to make. XD
(no subject)
Date: 3 Feb 2004 03:52 pm (UTC)true, commenting is much more relaxing than fic-writing. requires less effort. and concentration.
(no subject)
Date: 3 Feb 2004 04:07 pm (UTC)way. fic writing takes a lot out of me. when i'm writing one, i'm totally obsessed for, at minimum, a few hours at a time, and i wander around and talk to myself and scribble furiously.... whereas, commenting can be done at the same time as homework. which is a crucial quality, i think.
(no subject)
Date: 3 Feb 2004 04:19 pm (UTC)hee. i have no homework as yet. but i comment while i do... like... chatting, reading. not writing. although i do take breaks from writing to check my comments sometimes. i don't exactly talk to myself but writing is a big commitment of mental resources even if you don't write for such a long time. i have to think about it intensely for a while before i start writing, usually.

Date: 3 Feb 2004 04:35 pm (UTC)aaargh homework. i have so much it's just unbelievable. i don't know if it's humanly possible to complete everything in the time i have been given... at least in an acceptable way. but i'm not panicking yet, because i have until friday to do the big thing. but i have to work like crazy. um... and i'm working right now. really. ~_~
i try not to talk to myself, but i do sometimes anyway. or i'll laugh at something stupid i wrote, or something good. i think it's because of the emotional attachment i have to something i'm writing that minute... later, it becomes something i can seperate myself from, but when it's in progress, it's like... me. which is why i hate letting people read things that aren't done. i can hardly stand a beta, even though i know that's necessary, so i force myself to. heh.
(no subject)
Date: 3 Feb 2004 04:46 pm (UTC)well, i guess the difference is just that i don't talk out loud, cause i know what you mean. and of course you have to laugh at your own jokes WHILE you're writing them. ;) but the secret for beta is to find the perfect one. possibly i am too reliant on mine, but i always feel better after i've talked to her. she's brilliant. she knows what i meant when i don't.
