the first full-length trailer for the da vinci code is out.  watch it.  it looks so so bad.

(wax:  dammit, all these really bad movies are going to come out on my birthday!)

I so sympathize with Wax. My birthday's in August which is pretty much the "let's bury our crap movies that weren't good enough to open on Memorial Day or the 4th of July" month.

hee! i've never thought about that issue before. this year there weren't any on my birthday that we hadn't seen yet, but in general early december is a fabulous time for movies.

I still haven't been able to make it more than a paragraph into the book--I just don't get the hype.

i considered borrowing it from [livejournal.com profile] mace_m when i heard paul was starring in the movie (which means i will have to see it of course), but then i heard even more about how absolutely bad it is, and decided it wasn't worth the physical pain all the wincing would cause me.

I agree, and my Paul love is strong enough for me to have considered seeing Wimbledon in theaters.

ohhhhhhhahahahah.

i DID see wimbledon in the theatres, man. wax did too, even though she dislikes kirsten dunst intensely.

My Kirsten Dunst hate was what held me back. Is it worth seeing anyway?

hmmm i can't remember anymore! i really, really enjoyed paul in it. he's buff with little muscles, he looks really great in most of his wardrobe in it, and he does that slightly awkward acting very well and very charmingly. there's also a best friend character played by a german guy--they're very close and it's quite sweet, possibly slashy (although of course, there's a fairly solid het ending with kirsten to explain away for that, but still). oh, and the guy who's playing the faun in narnia was his little brother, and he was really good also.

my vague memory is that the plot or large portions thereof got really irritating somewhere between the halfway point and the end, but i still enjoyed it. and it was pretty.

I'll probably sound like a literary snob for saying this, but I couldn't even get through the book because I thought it was sub-par. Or maybe it's just that everyone and their dog was telling me to read it and I got turned off. :/

hahaha. i'm a snob about bestseller style too (though not a literary one, i don't think--i'm more into genre fiction). and i'm completely with you on this one--i don't have to have read a sentence of the book to be completely convinced of its terribleness. i've heard numerous testaments to that effect from people braver than i, and that trailer just SCREAMS "terrible book" and has done nothing but cement my opinion. (of course we're going to go see it anyway because we're both in love with paul bettany and sir ian, but under protest!)

Don't you hate it when that happens? I know I do.

i know! sucky, isn't it? i think she has a bad date--mid-may is much worse than early december. but if you go see a film every week, more or less, you always run the risk of having nothing you haven't seen yet left on your birthday, which is what happened to me this year :/.
