we watched the celluloid closet, and they showed some memorable clips of a movie in which steve buscemi is gay, including a tiny bit of a really memorable and touching scene.  at that point, at least, there were no tags on the screen to say what movie it was, but it was pretty easy to find with google--parting glances, 1986.  i really really want to see this.

i've already watched several Very Eighties Movies in the service of watching movies about gayness and many of them did not contain steve buscemi. so as far as that goes, this is a step up! if we can find it. :)

Oooo. Now that we know what movie it is, we can put our best efforts into finding it and making everyone and their dog watch it.

...and. I love how the first user review on IMDB calls it "the best gay film of all time". :D

It's a good one. Steve Buscemi is kinda the saving grace of it, though Richard Ganoung is pretty sweet, too. Probably wouldn't get made now, too small-scale. Like pretty much all 80's movies with gay content, AIDS is a major plot issue, but not the be-all and end-all of the movie like the more widely known "critically acclaimed" films of the period like An Early Frost or Longtime Companion (though both of those are decent movies, too.)
