cimorene: cartoony drawing of a woman's head in profile giving dubious side-eye (alone together)

there appears to be a new thai restaurant on aningaisgatan in the first block from the river, one of my favourite places to walk to and probably less than ten minutes' walk from the flat.  needless to say i'm rather excited.  it looked like they're not open yet, but otherwise i'd sort of like to run down there.

yesterday and saturday chi and i (and sugar) watched the beginning of season 1 of project runway--torrents through 108 (out of eleven) have been posted to isohunt.  it's a good thing they went up when they did, cause we were both in need of some more watching after we viewed 210 "makeover", which was depressing even for us--although we spent a vehement 15 minutes or so jointly defending it to [livejournal.com profile] thelionforreal!  at least, neither one of us wanted to fling ourselves out the window.  or run away and cry, cry, cry.  we agreed that santino's behaviour was more obnoxious than usual, but not more obnoxious than one could expect from him and certainly not beyond the pale.  and that the most painful part was in fact the behaviour of the other designers and the obvious negative tension, which mostly stemmed from nick (although santino was certainly the cause of part of it, i think it's pretty clear to everyone that a good part of nick's problems are either genetic or external--maybe some kind of home drama?  or just permanent pms).  anyway, for me there was also a certain amount of split sympathy.  it was mostly with santino, because i love him and i don't think that kind of shunning behaviour that we saw from the others was appropriate to the situation.  on the other hand, i've been in the position of having been driven past my wits' end by an obnoxious, noisy, un-self-aware asshat like santino, and i can sympathise with the other designers too. last night.  i'd already read about half jeff's recaps at twop, so it was interesting to be, like, prepared to hate wendy and love austin at least.

i feel odd and am sort of realising i think i have been online much less than usual the past couple of weeks.  at first i didn't even notice that it was happening, really, because my day-to-day routine was turned on its head by the inavailability of wax's computer.  which, by the way, is mostly working now. or halfway working, anyway. fingers crossed.  i still feel a bit shook up though, like some bits in my brain are disconnected.  maybe it's the season.

the l-word is making me want to fling things through the screen again, quite rapidly, with the advent of the breast cancer plot.  i was just starting to become quite fond of dana's girlfriend and her blonde-terri-hatcher looks, too, and now my loathing for every scene involving dana has to cloud that out!  tina and bette are almost as irritating as they have ever been in the past.  it's like the combination of their stupid boring marital troubles and the dying daddy plot with bette's personal pain which just makes me want to flatten her with a steamroller.  something's really wrong with the world when jenny and helena are some of the least irritating characters all of a sudden.  and now alice's dumbness has veered back over the line from embarrassing (in the bad way) to entertaining--which is welcome but certainly unexpected.  i just rail against the cruelness of fate, you know?  this is what they make for the lesbians.  and it's so sad that it's the only lesbian tv so of course we have to watch it, no matter how awful.

we both really dug this episode of csi.  i was pleased by a tidbit of nick/greg at the beginning of the episode which reminded me again that george eads and eric szmanda and the nick/greg was what brought me to the show in the first place.  we both fell in love with the show itself and i mostly forget about that aspect, cause the relationship is pretty much blink-and-you-miss it as far as canon goes, entirely present in the chemistry the actors have with each other, not in the writing.  (in my opinion.)  but when we do get the characters together, sometimes i really dig it, and that little scene at the beginning of this episode was one of those times.  also, we commented that they have something else in common, besides living arrangements and whatnot:  bad hair!  they've both introduced strange and potentially off-putting, vaguely-70s-reminiscent hairstyles this season.  is it some kind of mutual practical joke they're playing on the producers or what?  maybe they've got a private bet going.  or maybe they've both become really infatuated with some kind of 70s tv show and are having, like, weekend-long marathons of bad hair at home.  also:  anyone else notice how eric has been getting hotter?

and this isn't a spoiler, but i continue to love veronica mars.

Dude. NICK'S HAIR. I had the same thought: is he channling Greg or what? That is just...odd. It looks much better on Eric than it does on George. Eric's got that whole endearingly geekish-funky style going for him, but George is such a classically good-looking guy that any attempt to introduce some quirkiness into his appearance just backfires. George. Don't mess with a good thing, baby.

it can still achieve endearing or cute, but it totally gets in the way of the hot. that nearly-shaved head he had going was like smokin': i wonder if he like, had a problem being a sex object or uh. is trying to. be Method and. undergo the character's search for identity. or. something.

I disagree. there is nothing in this entire world that could convince me to watch the l-word, and that's FINAL.

in this particular instance, i meant "we" to refer to me and wax and not to all lesbians everywhere. cause i assure you, you're not the only one i know who doesn't watch it!
