chair couture! the dark is rising (ish)! project runway (sort of)!

chair couture.  "...takes vintage chair frames (more louie, louie than louis xvi) and dolls them up with paint, gilding and gaudy fabrics."  colour me in love.

also, i realised what was nagging me about william moseley, the eldest brother from narnia.  it's not that he actually looks familiar like i've seen him before; it's more that he looks quite similar to how i picture will in the dark is rising.  so now i have him (mentally) cast!  still baffled by bran and his annoyingly-hard-to-find-images-of albinism, unable to picture him properly. 

my uploads are going along pretty well.  in the lastest project catwalk julian macdonald does, indeed, say to one of the designers, "i'm not going to say much about this dress because basically, i hate it."  i really can't imagine HHMK saying such a thing on air, a fact which i sorely regret.  julian macdonald is pretty awesome, though.  if anyone would like me to upload it too, drop a line.

can you just picture andraé's speech about mixing the humble mod fabrics with the high-class chairs? because he loves to transcend class barriers! it's like twiggy! and mod symbolises twiggy, and she was working class! yes! it all makes sense! i'm surprised he didn't stencil gay porn on them.

I really want to read The Dark is Rising, but I'll have to order it from Amazon because I haven't yet been able to find it in a books and mortar store. I have a suspicion I'll really like the series.

I adore those chairs and think that they're very you. I like this candy striped on the best.

yeah, i'm completely enchanted with the idea behind those chairs. unfortunately it will be a long time before i can afford any materials to make anything similar! what i've done in the past, painting all-wooden chairs in blocks of colour and folk art-y designs, is a lot busier. i've been wishing for an old chair to paint on for a long time now, though!
