cimorene: cartoony drawing of a woman's head in profile giving dubious side-eye (me and my boyfriend)

so, new veronica mars.  still completely enchanted with it! i always feel like i should have a symbolic cigarette or something after an episode.

and on a completely different subject, my cousin took one of those send-it-in aptitude tests for a "school" (correspondence courses, natch) of writing for wannabe children's book writers.  i was ignoring this with no comment but now she's been accepted--they loved her short story!  and she's considering enrolling in these courses which cost money.  it's hard for me to imagine how this could not be a scam, or how anyone could go for it in the first place.  what do you say, though, when someone seems to be really dumb?  i can never think of any way to mention it at all because it seems like the mere fact of pointing out the lapse is embarrassing.

also, i may have finished a certain ficlet involving porn about certain key real people from a certain reality show *coughicon*.  i'd never post such a thing unlocked, of course, because, as you probably don't know, there was a slash outing and there's a certain mess which a google will turn up mention of from several websites.  this is the only time i've ever written something not for public consumption via my website, even counting when i slashed tim roth and gary oldman's kids. so i feel kind of disturbed about that, because i don't want people to have to be friended at my journal to read my fic (even when nobody could possibly want to read it who isn't already friended! yes, even then!).

oh, hm, i thought i posted about this--yeah, here (http://cimorene.greatestjournal.com/37335.html?mode=reply) and here (http://cimorene.greatestjournal.com/37457.html?mode=reply). nobody seems to be aware of the author's real identity, which she is probably thanking her lucky stars for--she locked her stuff down pretty promptly. but people saved the stuff and someone reposted it publicly as "by anonymous" on an lj community for the show (where the comments are peppered with "i can see that happening!" and "he has a boyfriend!" and "i don't understand why fangirls slash everything!" and "ew!"), and it's been linked by a couple of blogs, which i discovered completely by accident through google.

The dumbest people I know are the ones sending me fwds full of "watch out for the way they drug tourists and harvest their organs!" and "delete this file from your computer immediately!". It's the way they advertise their lack of sense that always gets me.

If you do say anything to your cousin, start with "I love your short story!". Basically, if it works for a shady correspondence course, it should definitely work for you.

so i feel kind of disturbed about that

...maybe you'll get lucky and someone will post your fic on a public comm as by anonymous, omgwtf.

ugh. forwards. i hate all of them! almost as bad as the kind you mention are the ones that are like "we're trying to collect a list of blah blah so add your name and send it to everyone". like, dumbass, THERE'S NO CONTACT INFORMATION ON IT. there's no originator's address and NO WAY AT ALL for them to get it back! how do you fall for something like this, how?

i haven't read her story. maybe i should ask.

maybe you'll get lucky and someone will post your fic on a public comm as by anonymous.

not if i post it locked!

my friendslist is pretty small, though--it's not like i'm posting locked to a community. or like i'm um, someone with a large friendslist.

have you read franco and jay and diana and zulema talking about whether you should let someone film you having sex? jay is all "don't let a guy video you having sex, you fucking dumbass", and Daniel Franco says "I've done it a couple of times, but I've never had anyone direct my sex tapes", and Diana says "you can get a gadget that detects hidden cameras! it picks up their frequency!".

I can't remember my point. It's possible I never had one.

The entire article is here (http://www.nerve.com/regulars/sexadvicefrom/projectrunway/). And Zulema is gay. Who knew?

Everyone hates Zulema. Except Zulema, who thinks she was just badly edited.

Daniel Franco, the person, is deeply disturbing and has crazy, intense eye contact that freaks me out. Daniel Franco, the caricature, is still deeply disturbing, but it turns out that I have a sick sense of humour, because I love it. I changed my title and friends page title to reflect this, and I don't even care if nobody else gets that it's ironic.
