so, i work in the art museum as a guard and today when i got there, they have up this new exhibit of awesome mexican folk art called "casa manana." you know anne morrow lindbergh, and charles lindbergh, who flew across the ocean? well, her father, dwight morrow, was a member of the class of 1895 and he was the ambassador to mexico for 3 years. the collection is his and his wife's and oh my god, it's so impressive and gorgeous. i couldn't stop singing shakira all the time i was there, "si es hora de limpiar/las manchas de miel/sobre el mantel/yo nunca supe actuar/mis labios se ven/muertos de sed." isn't that gorgeous? "i never knew the right way to act/ my lips take themselves away/dying of thirst." in spanish it's gorgeous anyway. um, and that was the last 3 lines because i don't know what "miel" is... maybe honey? but why would there be honey on the tablecloth? ...right. so anyway, they have 2 panels of a diego rivera mural as well as a painting by him and a bunch of his sketches. the walls are gorgeous, all yellow and turquoise and pink and... *sigh.*

althought--i do seem to've stopped using correct punctuation. right, so, i got the tablecloth part right! yay me! hey, you're not actually hispanic, are you? your name... but you did say you tried a dictionary. (i looked it up too... and also got only "anise"; go fig.) so wait, is a carrot-mouth sexy???? i love shakira, but...

I'm a poor little white girl with no rhythm... but a Spanish major. heh. I love Spanish like I love Chris&Justin. hehehe...

Hmmm... well there was a reference for anise liqueor. Maybe that's what she was trying to imply...

see, i met a spanish major today and i was like--"huh." because... it's hard to imagine passionately loving spanish. it's just not a very... i don't know. i mean, i love spanish, but i love it in the sense that, like, after a few weeks of deprivation i start to feel itchy and have to listen to shakira for a while. or like that after studying japanese for a while my brain goes into spanish mode in self-defense, because comparatively, it's ridiculously easy. where japanese makes no sense whatsoever, spanish barely requires any studying... although when i was in japan, i started to get homesick for spanish and walked around singing the nursery rhymes that you learn in spanish one...

me: a pamplona hemos de ir, con una media y un calcetin.
little japanese girl: eee? what does that mean?
me: it means we have to go to pamplona with a stocking and a sock.
ljg: to where?
me: it's a place in spain.
ljg: ahhhhh, so *still confused.*
me: it's spanish.
ljg: ahhhhh. *strange look.*
