i did quite a bit of reading today, but not much else, because i planned to do it at night, and i assumed carolyn (who drives me to greenfield for the dancing) had fallen off the face of the earth. however, i ate dinner early on a whim, and she called at 6:20 wanting to get me at 7:20. cool. showered, pinned up hair and wore new purple college shirt with sleeves chopped off. it was unseasonably warm, which is to say, i didn't shiver too much, though i overestimated temp and wore a too-light sweater. (it was, hm. 50s?) anyway.

we danced only from about 8:00 till 10:30, and i think i only did four dances, not counting two icky square dances (fucking crossover callers). so fucking annoying. however, i seem to be improving each time. this time was even more fun. i had one fanTAbulous partner even better than the best i'd had before. he was witty and playful, and quite a good teacher. we discussed different kinds of swinging, somewhat, and we did most of them; and he gave me a push out of every swing to spin around an extra time going into the hey-for-four. me: why do we always get done with the 'hey's early? him: because we're good. me: that must be it. him: *spinning me into a ladies' chain* no, it really is.

then got in one of those hysterically funny situations where some idiots fall out once and the whole set/line of dancers is screwed up for the rest of the dance. i laughed, while dancing, for about fifteen minutes straight.

there were also a lot of new people and several adorable lesbian couples. i danced with half of one of them the first dance. she was inexperienced at it, so i had to be the guy, which of course i'm not used to, so we got a bit screwed up towards the end. she blushed. also, she laughed and seemed just very ingenuous. and awfully earnest in the end when she thanked me. heeee.

also saw carolyn giving her phone number to The Guy that she always meets there. heheh.

dreams

i dreamed i was back in high school, but at college simultaneously. we suddenly realized we had two days in which to learn 500 japanese characters. my korean friend david and i were the only two with any chance of actually doing it. we went to the public library to study in the children's section with these little light boxes that had the characters superimposed on pictures of what they were to make it easier to remember. then i tried to seduce david by leaning on his knee and running my hand up his leg. this is pretty funny as he asked me to prom and i turned him down (in real life). at least he's asian. also, my friend sara munro whom i love very much was there, but instead of studying she was messing with new blue birkenstocks. i said, "are those new?" (quite lustfully--shoes, you know) and she said "well actually, i bought them on sale two years ago but i've never worn them." bah. rich people. and then, sara and i were at a store trying clothes on. the doors of the dressing rooms were just bead curtains. now i miss sara.

my beta's writing style is quite different from mine, but in some ways, practically unfathomable. i'm not sure i feel my understanding is profound enough to beta her work, but on the other hand, i'm a possessive little bitch and don't want to allow anyone else near it either. i just wish she'd believe me. she's certainly the most sophisticated writer currently working in kirk/spock. her characterization is unbelievable. *shiver*

there is possibly no feeling as satisfying as receiving a beta. i have Things To Do, now, after my greek, japanese, and reading of dracula. and i'm quite fierce, too. just watch me tackle my homework, and then the domlijah. it will be finished soonishly, i think, and then i have k'sal's things to beta. mmmh, satisfaction.

also it is time for stealing icecream from cafeteria soon, and in the meantime i have tea, chocolate, crackers and a pear. it's a nasty day, cold and windy and sodden outside and stuffy and hot in here, but we can't open the windows. rm#1 is back from boston and rm#2 is gone: nice quiet domestic day. *curls up in chair to doze*

also, snugglage to kk.

i have icecream. there's something sinful about the combination of cinnamon (on the golden grahams which i always eat with icecream) and chocolate (sprinkles). cinnamon and chocolate reminds me to have hot cocoa (although i don't think i actually have any cinnamon; pity. hazelnut or french vanilla flavored, i suppose).

and hot cocoa reminds me how much i adore [livejournal.com profile] wax_jism. she is certainly the raspberry hot cocoa of slash. new void, here, with titles breaking out of that 2x2 pattern

[i'm galadriel!]
I am Galadriel, the White Lady, Queen of Lothlorien. I was given Nenya, the Ring of Adamant, but I remained untouched by the Shadow. I gave shelter, gifts and advice to the Fellowship, but I turned green while they were around. My bad. In the movie, I'm played by Cate Blanchett.

people who squee about things are soooooo cute.

lalalala. must work some more. ok. work. i can do this...

will someone tell me how to set custom mood icons to the lotr rps set? unless i'm mistaken, very lisa made them? can anyone use them?

i started to study japanese again. and... it was fun. what's up with that? but! no. it's a good sign. yes, yes. did i say that green tea earl grey--twinings, of course, somethings blah blah by appointment to her majesty--is nectar, ie the drink of the gods? because. ah. it is. i have hardly done any goofing off today. read 200 pages of frankenstein, drilled japanese, made icons--whoops. ahem.

the mood icon thing is time-consuming. might be almost as fast to make my own set, as i was contemplating. some people are evil. the words livejournal style make my fingertips tingle. no no no. will not mess with it again. i always seem to screw it up. (evil little voice: but maybe if you didn't use the generator template...) NO! in other news, oranges=yucky. throwing orange away... now. go, me.

there's been a slough of domlijah lately, hasn't there? is this franka backlash, or did it start before and i didn't notice? or is it just part of the overall swell in lotrips? (speaking of which, what the fuck is up with that. meh.)
