cimorene: painting of a glowering woman pouring a thin stream of glowing green liquid from an enormous bowl (misanthropy)
ok, what's going on here? the clock in the kitchen says it's noon and my clock says it's 10 and i DON'T LIKE to be confused, GRRR. i have a mission today: i have to drive to two more temp agencies and put in applications, and then i have to come back and pack up my stuff (currently scattered throughout the guest room and my current bedroom) in preparation for moving. so that's a bit of a lot to do. after lunch, eh.

i know now
it don't mean a thing
i've been standing in your shadow way too long
i've been frightened of the light
don't try so hard cause i know what you are, and honey,
i know where you been
now i know
it don't mean a thing

know that song that's playing currently all over top 40, with loud piano in the background and a girl singing?

the chorus is:
and i need you
and i miss you
and now i wonder:
if i could fall into the sky
do you think time would pass me by?
'cause you know i'd walk a thousand miles
if i could just see you
tonight

could someone tell me the title and artist? it's got its claws in me. must... download. arg. this mood a few years ago, btw, is responsible for my buying the first nsync cd, and caused some shakira mania last spring.

also, my mom watches trading spaces, and today she told me that while it's on, she's "not here" (to phone callers). so, in all the room shuffling that's going to go on, i'm supposed to be moved into the living room. we live in a 100 year old farmhouse, and the living room has a whole wall that opens into a hallway facing the library. we're going to put two freestanding wardrobes there to form a wall temporarily (until our contractor gets off his ass and does it, which probably won't happen by next christmas), and the door's going to be a japanese linen curtain and a folding screen. meanwhile, the to-do list for in the room: repaint a lamp. sand and paint a chair frame (for a big loungy chair) and a vanity table and a vanity chair. reupholster said chairs, make curtains and pillows and comforter cover (the dog's gotten a hold of this one, unfortunately). eventually, the carpet should be ripped up, as we have nice wooden floors underneath it, and the floor and walls should be painted, but that's for next summer. the bottom half of the room is already a really nice dark wood panelling with a chair rail.

mmmmh.

current smell: fried gyoza (japanese dumplings)
current preoccupation: interior decorating
current lyrics on mental repeat: it's times like these when i think of you and wonder if you ever think of me
current embarrassment: having forgotten to pick dad up on time
current festering anger: at grandpa, for having left my grandmother twenty years ago
current job not done: making tshirts for myself and [livejournal.com profile] hollsk

naina, i'm still looking for you, and if you give me a pairing you can have some smut as well.

oops.

i knew this song sounded familiar. i have the legally blonde soundtrack! now to copy it to the hard drive. tralala.

well, one of the temp agencies was just for contractors and stuff and the other required an appointment, but i'm being paid $6 an hour for the easiest imaginable kind of babysitting intermittently starting next monday. of course, this reduces internet access even further. meanwhile, my little sister spent about two hours tonight on the pbs website playing games where you click on an image and it plays a sound.

i do not exaggerate.

hey, i got mIRC thanks to the urgings of my pet. downloading new programs is always, for some reason, exciting. just wait till i install that pirated winxp.

well, ok, i don't believe in anything and thus don't pray to anything, but i'm sitting here shaking with the unfairness of it all. i don't have the power to reach out and hug someone long distance, and [livejournal.com profile] hollsk really needs hugs. and stuff, and, you know, she's in canada, and what good am i doing here? i feel very helpless, just now. too upset for upsetness. like, numb, i guess. damn. damn. damn.

i want to be older and wiser right now.

in other, and less cryptic, news, i got an A on the final paper for english despite having written it in 4 hours. i think the teacher took the more charitable interpretation that i tried to write the transitions and just couldn't, as opposed to the truth, which was that near the end i didn't have time to write transitions as it was too close to the time when i had to turn it in. have i ever mentioned that i really like the cute little lesbian teacher? i quote: it's not an argument, that is, that builds and progresses and reaches a climax--which are the msot satisfying kind (pardon the sexual imagery...).

HAHAHAHAH
