i'm up and i'm actually awake, and i think going back to sleep isn't going to be possible. alas. no one else is up this early. the people who live on the other side of the world and should be are at work or reading or some other equally unimportant task.

i re-did my windows colors with all the buttons a nice dark chocolate brown, and periwinkle and pale pink title bars. it sounds odd, but i am quite happy with it.

in other news, has anyone else noticed just how many songs about superman there are out lately? let's see, there's that new dave matthews one ('wherever you go' or something like that) with the chorus i am no superman, i am no hero--etc etc. then there's nickelback, 'hero,' ('they say that a hero could save us/ i'm not gonna stand here and wait') which i'm aware is from the spiderman soundtrack, yes, but still. then there's five for fighting, 'superman,' ('i'm more than a bird, i'm more than a plane')--have there always been songs like this at the rate of three a year, and i've just always missed them? if you go back a little further, there's krystal harris, 'supergirl,' and three doors down, 'kryptonite,' and... well, those came before smallville, so it's not much of a coincidence there, but still.

i'm sure there's no one in fandom whose name it's not using by now. i get emails purporting to be from... everyone, practically. i know they aren't really from them. i delete them. it's the virus.

so what does surprise me is that anyone in existence could be unaware of the virus. apparently someone is, because just now i get an email consisting only of 'please stop emailing me blank emails thanks.' um?

no one likes getting virus emails. no one. and we're all going to be stuck with it until everyone in the known universe does that time-consuming thingy you have to do to get rid of it, and even then, who knows. maybe by then other people will be re-infected. it's like the common cold. we're all stuck with it. we all get five of these a day.

i could send out a snappish and testy response, but i won't. ::performs breathing exercises::

i think i need new undergarments. and i love to shop for them and have new ones, but i hate spending money on them. really, really, really--you just can't comprehend how much. why can't i be the same size as everyone else.

::stretch::

i had a nice nap, though.

i am ridiculously hard to please, particularly when for various reasons there are small but persistent pains in my abdomen and my dog is refusing to eat or take his medicine. just ridiculously. waded through some more ds today and yesterday that i suspect, on another day, would have made the recs list. but to hell with it.

in other news, new! chewable! tasty lemon meringue flavor! holls is... um... now available in multiple flavors. yeah. i don't know. but i made an icon for it. it seemed like a good idea at the time.

and in the absolute last piece of news that i post before trying once more to get my stomach to accept food: my waxlet's gay sheepfarmers are my gay sheepfarmers. you have no idea how delighted i am by this. i'm going to be dropping random bits of this in conversation for months. 'so, eelco, one of my gay sheepfarmers? is actually dutch, not finnish, so when they were living in holland for that reason, jon lost his political position with the green party...'

it totally sounds like it's fictional, but seriously. they really do live in a tiny little cabin, and own two dogs, and rescue pitiful little bits of wildlife found in the gutter resembling scraps of wet rag. if they were any cuter drastic measures would be necessary.

dad: i really do hope you'll do something productive today.
cim: ::hugs a couch pillow and frowns at him over the top::
dad: i'm sorry i'm so mean to you. did mommy already ask you that?
cim: no. she's nice.
dad: poor little pampered one. ::sits on the couch, pats my foot::
cim: ::suspicious frown::
dad: i meant that in the best possible way.

i finally watched an episode of smallville. freak named tyler, immortalized (for as long as he doesn't touch himself) by the fatal combination of painkillers + meteorite, goes around trying to end people's pain by turning them to ash. literally. clark gets touched--side of face--and stands there, mouth open in dismay, looking down to the side. wax's hurts, doesn't it? icon, if i'm not mistaken.

why did no one tell me before that the writing is really kind of bad? it was cute and charming and amusing... just not always intentionally.

bought a cordless phone and four bras: seafoam, darkish purplish periwinkle, hot pink, and an ordinary sort of flesh color. mmmm, nice. can finally throw away some old ones.

but. phone! i have a phone! in my room! yay. i paid for it myself in one sense. but in the other, my parents are paying for school, which costs about $18,000 more a year than i'm paying. so. you know. it all evens out in the end. or not.

::bounce:: ee, new bras! new bras! pretty colors!

so my little sister is out of town for the week, but i'm thinking i'm going to create a livejournal layout for her--and a journal, obviously--while she's gone. can someone tell me how to make the boxes in the 'generator' style narrow and on the right side of the screen? like, do you alter them up in the 'event' boxes, or down in the one that has the html for the page at once? and how do you make them over on the right side of the screen but still with a border on the outside--is that called a 'cushion'? if you can't explain that in a few sentences, don't bother, 'cause if i can't understand it that fast it's probably not worth it. i can make her a layout without an image in the background.

[edit: thanks to [livejournal.com profile] loreleif and [livejournal.com profile] uluviel. i figured it out. who'd've thought there's a [livejournal.com profile] howto journal?]
