i go to bed at 10, i wake up at 4. is this fair?

bleh.

EDIT: i think at least i can probably sleep again now, though my throat is itchy. have cleaned out the email in webmail, and have fixed the day-style problem that was eliminating crosswise navigation between days. now can proceed to update my recs page with all the hp etc i read while in finland.

finland... waaaah.

[livejournal.com profile] guinevere33, it's cimorene at rightthisway dot net, and i neeeeeeeds your L.B.C. (land of the balmy colleges) snail-mail address, because if i send the cd to your house your mommy and daddy will not know what to do with it. also, would be cheaper to drive over there and drop it on the doorstep. ::mwah::!

so now it becomes clear why mom hasn't installed the spiffy new printer on the spiffy new computer, other than the fact that she wouldn't have been able to. the software for the printer, and, indeed, all the software less than six years old, belonging to the updates from the dinosaur computer and all the paraphernalia associated with her own laptop, have been missing at least since christmas, and more likely for six months or so. i am not sure if dad was even aware of this, because if he was i'd expect him to say not 'mom wants you to install the printer' but 'mom wants you to install the printer, but she doesn't know where the cd or the instruction book are.' so yeah. am not impressed with the familial powers of organization just now.

she insists that the cds are in a specific container, which she cannot name or completely describe. i do not remember it, but she says that i insisted we buy it and implies that i am probably the one who lost it. she thinks it is black, and maintains staunchly that it is rectangular although she cannot remember if it is the size of one or more cds, what it is made of, if it says anything on it, or whether it closes with a zipper.

unfortunately for us i store things in my mind under labels ('zippered cd case,' 'binder-like cd case, two cds wide,') and not under, uh, vague... color and shape things ('black rectangular objects') or family-member associations ('cim's idea to buy, and she insisted even though it cost x amount of money').

EDIT: since the light of my life cogently pointed out that one may download printer drivers from the internet, i lugged the printer into this room, cleared a space for it, and discovered that it was missing the cable. ask me if i have a usb cable. go on, ask me.

hate being cold-blooded. what does a princess have to do to regulate her body-temperature around here? am reading the latest bujold novel, which is also the latest vorkosigan since it came out after the fantasy one (which, no, i haven't read). diplomatic immunity. about half-through. ahhhhhhhhhh.

for two days have been drinking blackcurrant tea with tons of honey and lime for sore throat, as we are sorely out of lemons.

wax, come back.

ow.

what does it mean if you have a cold but your nose isn't running? i think something is wrong with my nose. ::frown, poke::

almost done with book, though. oh god, it's only noon.

EDIT: NOTE TO SELF: coughing on spiffy new monitor: BAD.

edit 2. must sleep. ...oops.

Syria... would find itself in a vise, no longer able to guarantee its national security except through accommodating the United States. (from here.)

dude, not accomodating the us is ALWAYS more risky than accomodating. they might not go after everyone immediately, but they're more of a sociopath than a playground bully. they've got a black list. they're methodical.

look at me saying 'they.'

anyway, duh, it's not smart to challenge a tremendous and internally somewhat unstable power in possession of ridiculous numbers of weapons of mass destruction.

you don't tug on superman's cape, you don't spit into the wind, you don't pull the mask off the ol' lone ranger and you don't mess around with jim, folks.

One of the things that make Opera stand out from other Web browsers it that you can have several Web pages open at the same time within Opera. ... If you want to have new pages open in an entirely new application window instead (like other browsers), go to File > Preferences > Windows and select "Open pages in new window".
