the folk art chair that's currently claiming my attention should, i think, be the 'mulan chair' and not the 'oriental chair.' the original plan was a neat mix of chinese and japanese, but i have a certain non-oriental instinct in color mixing that goes for bold almost-primaries: buttercup yellow, red with a hint of purple and white, blue with a tinge of turquoise. rather than a chinese color scheme it looks like the background from christina's video for the mulan theme, 'my reflection.'
