on star wars slash:
24 Oct 2003 12:21 ami think i have a weakness for that teacher/student kink which, not surprisingly, runs rampant at the master/apprentice archive.
but oh, i think a really adult obi-wan is so much more romantic. equality is romantic as inequality never can be. i have this one facial expression in mind from aotc--with the beard, and the hair, both ridiculous, but neither without charm. adult, confident, self-contained, self-sufficient and capable in his own right.
i don't think the 'unable to function without you' thing is all that romantic, although to be sure it's real enough. apparently many people disagree with me.
mirabellawotr, i'm about to update my recs page with about fifty qui-gon/obi-wan. if you're, y'know, still interested... ::sly look::

>Why do you think fandom is so important to you?
i love the concept of a SHARED universe, with SHARED characters. everyone's views of them may be different, but they overlap, and they overlap with canon and diverge from it, and then there's fanon, and there's a FEELING to the body of work in a fandom that's a nebulous collective of the work and the prescence of all the people in that fandom. within all those interwoven, overlapping ideas there are an infinite number of truths, and every idea in a shared universe becomes a dialogue, a discussion, with the fandom and everyone in it.
( oops, my soapbox is showing.... )
recs page update of huge hugeness
24 Oct 2003 11:18 ami've just updated my recs page as promised. there are two due south; a couple of lotr and lotr rps; 6 harry potter; 10 pirates of the caribbean; some potc and harry potter rps and 8 smallville in other; and, most significantly, an amazing fifty star wars (all but three of those are qui-gon/obi-wan. the three are han/luke.)
star wars not-rec
24 Oct 2003 01:21 pmsomeone's got a caveman kink. don't read if you don't like cluelesschild!obi-wan. he's like the heroine in a particularly bad romance novel.
also: use the force, nitwit. he's been drugged. he doesn't even notice?!

24 Oct 2003 02:52 pmwhoa.
random bitchiness, you know, in unexpected places and from strangers, always astonishes me. are they trolls or troll-wannabes, deriving enjoyment from unprovoked rudeness to random people they don't know from adam? or were they just born without the gene that notifies normal humans that they should bite their tongues on pointless venom directed at strangers?
