i went out and did errands. bought drill bits and made a home depot employee's day--this cute little skinny, wispy-haired old man asked if he could help me. i asked him if all sets of drill bits worked with all drill bits. just to make sure. he almost laughed out loud. that was clearly the cutest question he'd been asked all day. then he hovered over me, took me to an aisle, pointed out a few, and finally picked one out for me.

but what is it with me and little old men? i wanted to kiss his cheek. they're just so charming.

ahhhhhhh the bizarreness of mediocrity. all the similarities are there to the tolkein symposium story so that it's clearly the same writer, but this one is just bursting with mediocrity. and low on cuteness.

gah. tired already? i'm pathetic. pathetic should be a mood. i keep wanting to write but i also don't want to, so i deliberately sabotage myself, focusing on other things with this completely spurious 'i just have to finish this first' attitude. it's really awkward, like looking at the keys as you type. (believe me, i know--i just tried that. eugh.)
