He first felt it against his thigh when he leaned over the damp counter. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out what seemed determined to claw painfully into him: in full bloom but still touched with a drop of dew on the inside, a single, perfect rose.

we bought couch and chair covers that are almost big enough in a cinnamon-colored indian cotton.  they're all right.  the room still needs throw pillows.  and a low table under the window (this is wax's idea.  she thinks the flowers should be kept like that).

we also got some navy blue curtains for the bedroom.  i'm very satisfied with those.  they're... color.  color's good. 

it's a miserable day.  it never got light at all and i've spent it all sleeping, either on the bed or on the couch, while wax has been reading the dark tower book.  we picked that up yesterday too.  she keeps fondling it.  they're a picture of domestic felicity on the couch under the striped throw blanket lillian gave me for my plane trip over.

the gray of the sky feels like it's inside my head too.  i don't want to move and i feel exposed if i'm not covered in blankets. eugh.
