Baking a Chicken

the recipe says to cook the chicken--or the breast part of it--for seven to nine hours in a "low" oven.  what does low mean?  googling tells me that the gas setting term is "very slow" for 250 F or 120 C. 

but all the recipes i can find are cooking chickens at around that 250 F-110 C range for one and a half, not eight and a half, hours.  so what is "low", and why does a google on it produce nothing?  is the recipe mis-typed?

you know what i think?  that there should be more gawain/galahad/tristan.  threesomefic is just so... yummy and romantic!  i hope this turns out to be good.  and then, if it doesn't, i guess i could always just watch king arthur.  the extended edition.  cause wax bought it.  and we haven't watched it yet!  :glee:

frying in oil question

cooking potato pancakes. the recipe didn't mention temperature but said to fry them in an inch of oil. i've had it set on four (and then five when that didn't seem to be working) out of six on the electric range, and in an inch of oil, they're... disengaging. it's an oil sea littered with little tiny particles of onion and potato.

what temperature? will it help as wax thinks to fry them "drier", with just a bit of oil in the pan?

we have a shitload of leftover channukah food: 1.5 orange chickens with pear salsa (my personal favorite chicken dish), a loaf of very nice bread, half a berry pie, a pile of rolled-cake slices and a large bowl of salad.

we also have the king arthur director's cut; starsky & hutch; girl with a pearl earring; Harry Potter 3; two movies with liev schreiber; the master and commander two disc set... and air force one, in the way of gary oldman films.

are you guys ready for a gary oldman get-together, emelia, kirsti? kirsti, are you going to be well enough to leave the house soon? (we could hold off on gary, watch a few of the new ones instead if you can't make it.)
