as i explained to
wax_jism yesterday. (i have the opposite problem: thinness and vanishingly small breasts.)
the thing is, two days ago we drove out to another town and tried on some swimsuits in a GIANT mall. wax fortuitously found herself an olive-drab bikini right away, and she's delighted, because olive drab reminds her of the manic street preachers. but that big mall didn't have any swimsuits that fit me.
so yesterday i convinced wax to drive into town and we tried again. i found a fitting but singularly unflattering olive drab bikini in lindex, and then... in stockmann, against all odds, a bikini in diagonal hot pink and lime green stripes turned out to fit and flatter excellently. it was by tommy hilfiger, of course, and cost €60. given the odds are good that it will never get hot enough all summer for me to get in the water, i didn't think that was a justifiable expense, so we skipped it. but now i keep having yearnful thoughts, because i don't know if i've ever had a swimsuit that looked really good on me.
there were also some sandals that looked like the result of a pair of birkenstock thongs mating with a pair of seed-bead-coated asian slippers. i was in love! but i restrained myself from buying them on grounds of impracticality. so we shopped for a few hours and got nothing (except for a tasty lunch at the stockmann deli).
then we went to
emmuzka's graduation party (she now has a master's degree, and a thesis with something relating to slash) and presented her with stevebob the cactus, named after our two favourite wraith from stargate:atlantis. (his full name, emma, was originally meant to be stevebob urbangöran bossemelker. y'know, if you were curious.)
and then we went to a dogs-allowed beach, where wax and chi swam in the freezing cold water and cut their feet on reeds and sharp rocks. sugar and mace and i discussed the whole incident as further evidence of wax and chi's clinical insanity. so the beach itself--highly suspect; the outing as a whole--pretty fun.
