The equivalent of Payless Shoes in northern Europe (as my experience leads me to believe) is about twice as expensive (or maybe more like half again as expensive). There's northern Europe for you.

The other day wax and I both fell in love with these incredibly comfortable and adorably retro little heels, which are €32. They'll probably be sold out when I go back there. They remind me of Kathy's shoes in Singin' in the Rain. The 20s were imprinted on me at an early age. Also shoes from that period are just empirically cuter.
