I only ever have really killer terrible cravings for pairings without a fandom to speak of, but I wonder if that's just contrariness on my part. I mean, I'd hardly notice the sharp edge of the craving, so to speak, for Frank/Gerard (which I undeniably like better than Bob/Ray, despite not having such an awful craving) when as soon as I start to hanker after it I can find one of a hundred good stories, or one of several thousand hilariously bad ones. So, I mean, is the killer craving just an aggravated hankering, as it were? A hankering left untreated and fed with liberal applicatons of canon so that it only multiplies?

205 - The Cornish Mystery

Or sit, as the case may be.

Wax was the one who originally made that comment when I was making icons, which led me to contemplate just how many pictures I have of the gentlemanly Hastings holding an umbrella for Poirot. In fact, last night I watched one where Poirot holds an umbrella for Hastings. The difference in height meant his arm was rather at an awkward angle. And he's not as considerate: Hastings was getting quite wet. Then I thought someone should make a vid to it except for two things: I actually hate that song, and that's way too much work. Well, three things. The quality of the avis is low. Anyway, then I thought: a silent vid! Or just a lot of caps, and you can imagine your own music! Then I realised that would be essentially the same thing as a picspam. And then I stumbled via google onto an article with an embedded YouTube vid to a really horrible ballad about rain. Someone else had the same idea, but with a rather different (cheesy and, er, bad) sensibility. Ouch. Probably it's a sign.

So this picspam (screencapspam?) is not, in fact, umbrella-themed. I thought that might get old rather quickly, anyway. Pairing-themed capspam from early episodes of Poirot )

I need these.

They remind me of Kathy's shoes from the Good Morning number in Singin' in the Rain, though the colour and style are not exact (I suppose one could tie a ribbon around the T-bar...). ([livejournal.com profile] lexandros already has the skirt. [livejournal.com profile] anglepoiselamp could knit the top and then between us we'd have the whole costume in town!)

So, last night I was watching Poirot. The special GuestStar!Cam introductory scene showed a girl in the USSR embassy, speaking urgent Russian, and handing over an envelope. The recipient stopped as soon as he was out of sight to open it and the camera zoomed in on...

As you can imagine, I doubletook. Then I LOLed. Then I went back and took a screencap.

The meaning was never explained, so [livejournal.com profile] wax_jism and I have decided it probably stands for "Wednesday Thursday Friday" in the absence of further information. It was kind of like a Sign, but I'm not sure what it would be a sign of...
