21 Jan 2008 12:31 amWell, my computer's freeze-on-startup issue having progressed to the point that you have to turn it on with the power button three times each morning, I asked Brother Linux for help. He did a fresh install of Gutsy Gibbon, and I spent all evening reinstalling, recovering my preferences and so on all to no avail: it still hung up when it went to sleep and it still took three tries to start again. On the plus side, I do like Gutsy better at least. On the minus side, nearly everything in my computer is new, all except the harddrive, so unless something new has broken, which would suck, it's either harddrive failure or something wrong with my configuration. The bad thing about a software problem is that I've googled everywhere for it already and can't even identify an exact duplicate of my problem, let alone understand the things other people have written about the similar cases in their bug reports. Ugh.
