SoapoperifFic (also soapoperiffic), pl. soapoperiffic, n: a long piece of fanfiction with an elaborate or turn-filled plot, usually written with purple prose or otherwise suffused with an atmosphere of heightened emotion and/or melodrama, which is reminiscent of a soap opera. Especially if this work contains long, drawn-out UST; Jerry Springer-esque interpersonal drama; Mary Sues; and tropes or other genre markers associated with romance novels. Refers to plot, tone, and length, without any inherent comment on quality of writing, though it may carry connotations of guilty pleasure. Example: I've been reading this soapoperiffic for hours and I can't go to bed until they either have sex or go to war!

soapoperiffic, adj: Having the abovementioned qualities; reminiscent of or pertaining to a SoapoperifFic. Example: No, it's not badfic, it's quite decent, but I still want to beat my head on the wall because it's totally soapoperiffic.

Etymology: Coined by [livejournal.com profile] wax_jism, initially used to describe novel-length Harry/Draco fanfiction in the Cassie Claire/Ivyblossom years.

I'm such a Marimekko fangirl. We ran into these beautiful little shoes today at Stockmann when passing through...

...and I saw the matching trenchcoat online when I was looking for a picture to show my sister. I think I'm in love. *_* Omena is the print and Mika Piirainen is the designer of the trench (and all my other favourite Marimekko pieces)(and MAN are there a lot - I could take one of everything in any boutique I've ever seen, almost). And see, last year I was totally head-over-heels for some very similar shoes in the Päärynä print, and I was absolutely heartbroken to discover they were part of the seasonal collection and Not Sold In Stores Anymore (though who knows - they might be on ebay). But seeing these in the store today was like the hero at the end of an apparently-tragic romance who leaves her (or his) lover dead/in another reality/in another time period only to run into his double and fall in love all over again.
