World Covers Ears, Chants Loudly As EPA Releases Ozone-Depletion Statistics

WASHINGTON, DC–The EPA released an alarming set of findings on global ozone depletion Monday, prompting the world's six billion inhabitants to cover their ears and chant, "Na, na, na, na, na, na! I'm not listening to youuuu!" Added humanity: "Doop-de-doop-de-dooooooo!" A large portion of North America was also observed rocking back and forth while humming upon hearing the report.

Looking for derogatory terms for...

I'm looking for the word or slang term that means a shallow/superficial (possibly selfish) teenager who cares for nothing but friends/clothes/boys.

ETA: Wax suggests "Heathers" but this carries an implication of popularity; likewise "chav" carries implications about the way they dress - I'm looking for a word that applies to any superficial and self-obsessed teenie or young person (must include age, thus "ditz", "airhead" and the like are inappropriate) who is also all about the materialistic and/or her or his social life, without being able to talk about other subjects (generally dubbing them "boring" if they don't involve "hanging out" or talking to friends on the telephone or spending money).

I can't think of one. English is what I'm really wondering about but other languages are definitely desired as well! Finnish is "pissis". ETA: We have another! Dutch is "biggen" (lit. "piglets").

I got some Marimekko Omena sneakers at last! ("Omena" is Finnish for apple - it's the name of Wax's green iPod, too.)

I fell in love with these a couple of months ago but waited. I saw them a few weeks ago on sale for just 25e in the Marimekko boutique in Wiklund, but when we went back today they were out of every size over 38, so we went back to Stockmann, where they had only two pairs. One was my size, so we got them - though Wax had to eat the difference. Stokka charged 43e. Those bastards. >|

We tried shopping for jeans as well because we each have only one blue pair that fits (and one faded black pair that fits), which is really not enough pairs of jeans when the average summer temperature is closer to 15° than 20. But we suffered belated buyer's remorse for the shoes and got cold feet about making that 40-euro-per-pair plunge. I guess it can wait a few more weeks.
