I got some Marimekko Omena sneakers at last! ("Omena" is Finnish for apple - it's the name of Wax's green iPod, too.)
I fell in love with these a couple of months ago but waited. I saw them a few weeks ago on sale for just 25e in the Marimekko boutique in Wiklund, but when we went back today they were out of every size over 38, so we went back to Stockmann, where they had only two pairs. One was my size, so we got them - though Wax had to eat the difference. Stokka charged 43e. Those bastards. >|
We tried shopping for jeans as well because we each have only one blue pair that fits (and one faded black pair that fits), which is really not enough pairs of jeans when the average summer temperature is closer to 15° than 20. But we suffered belated buyer's remorse for the shoes and got cold feet about making that 40-euro-per-pair plunge. I guess it can wait a few more weeks.
The downtown market square branch of H&M moved across the street to new headquarters, and in the process changed to a total anxiety-attack-causing nightmare. The former premises were had honey wood and white interiors and high ceilings, and the layout had one long, wide pathway leading in a ring around both the floors with organised rows of racks lining it. The new decor is matte black with scattered dim spotlights, no wide aisles or straight pathways through the mess to speak of, and everything jumbled on masses of tiny moveable racks and tables with no thematic organisation whatever beyond the basic women's vs men's vs children's departments. Because of the shitty layout it gives an impression of being unpleasantly crowded even if there is no one there, like a big obstacle course of cheaply-made chav clothes. It used to be that if in the vicinity I'd wander in out of habit, to soothe myself strolling around. After one visit to the new one I'd already developed a strong preference for never entering it unless absolutely unavoidable.

PS. Before I forget again, I thought I should let you know that I found one more of your Wynne Jones books when moving. Deep Secret, I think. I can bring it back whenever you like - the bus from Runosmäki stops by the bus station so it's still easy for me to come and visit you guys. :)

Date: 1 Jul 2008 11:13 pm (UTC)If you're still planning to have everyone over to your new digs soon I can get my book then! If that date is likely to be delayed for a while though, or you're going to be in the area already and it won't mean a big extra trip, then you could bring it by sometime. It's possible we'll be out and about more this summer, though, since we volunteered to do some renovations at Ängisbacka. So we'll have to make sure and coordinate a bit in advance.
Your fic as a PDF?
Date: 1 Jul 2008 10:57 pm (UTC)I'm trying to get pdfs/single html files available of the H/D "classics" fics so I'm messaging all the authors on the list. Feel free to say no - here's the mass message bellow:
As the author of one the fics on the Harry/Draco Classics List (http://gossymer.livejournal.com/101912.html), I was wondering if you would mind making it available as a PDF/single html file for easy reading? If you don't have the time to do it, I wouldn't mind doing it for you ^_^ You could then make it avalable on your lj (or an alternate online site) and I'd be able to link to that post/site for people who a) can't access certain sites (like LJ) b) are travelling/on vacation c) would like it on mobile devices.
If you would rather not have your story made available in this way, feel free to say so - I just thought it would make it easier for a lot of people to get into some of the earlier fics in the fandom :)

Re: Your fic as a PDF?
Date: 5 Jul 2008 12:24 pm (UTC)1) Yes, please!
2) I'd like cimorene.net to be mentioned as the address of the fic (or the direct link if you prefer). I do not have it archived anywhere else.
