8 May 2012 07:20 amYesterday was the first day of the much-awaited Finnish class, and I found out that it is five days a week, 8:30 am to 1:30 with a short break for Second Breakfast at 11:15, until March 2013. (For the duration I get paid the employment bureau's work development whatever-it-is stipend.)
Wax and I aren't sure if we are going to stick around for it - she is considering going to a technical college class that would be in Pargas and the relocation (which would be sometime next year?) would make it necessary to move there to avoid death by commuting costs. It would be a shame to give this class up after the huge amount of time waiting to even get into it, but on the other hand, if we move to Pargas, my need for Finnish will be substantially less acute, as it is a majority Swedish-speaking area and I can probably just get a job in my field of training using Swedish.
Anyway, yesterday wasn't a full day, just an orientation day - papers and schedules, tour of the building and all that. I was only there from 9 - 11 in the morning. So this is the first proper day and I have to prepare myself accordingly - loins girded, ebook reader loaded with fanfic for the breaks, sketchbook and pencils for doodling, angora fingerless gloves, tube of hand cream, tea thermos and supply of spare tea bags etc. I'm trying not to be too nervous.
And I've had to not put Trespassing (new Adam Lambert album leaked yesterday) on my phone for fear of completely failing to not listen to it instead of the teacher. :((
After the class I have an hour to kill in town shopping before I see my therapist. I can look forward to that (only because it's sunny and I've had cabin fever, I think: otherwise I tend to just want to collapse after a new social situation like that). Possibly Wax and I will make a day of it as she intends to try to sell the un-claimed remainder of her grandmother's enormous quantity of monogrammed silver to an antique shop. To do when I get home: Avengers icon.
