I've had a sudden disappointment today, after the thirty hours or so I spent deciding how best to use the beautiful crackly royal blue floor tiles that we got for very cheap on the Finnish Craigslist.
See, there was way more than just the amount for the two bathroom floors but not enough to do a full shower room, and eventually I decided the blue should go up the walls in the corner that had the shower in it... and I got very attached to the idea.
However, the contractor's adorable little puppy apprentice guy is so extremely efficient that he was ready to tile before any of us anticipated. We thought the waterproofing was still drying so we just dropped the tiles off and I asked MIL to pass along our tiling request, but by the time she got there this afternoon he had already done most of the walls in white. "Listen, ah, it wasn't that extra important that the shower wall be blue, was it?" she called me and said, and I could hear the little dude murmuring to her in the background. And it wasn't his fault! And I didn't want to tell him to start over... so I said they could leave it, so it'll be white walls and blue floor. I was on the verge of tears for a couple of hours about that this afternoon because, well, I was so excited about my plan which was so stylish and this look is so extremely ordinary and boring.

(L: Expectation; R: Reality) (fixtures aren't representative, I just kinda picked the first ones that were the right color and about the right size from the room planner thingy)
But then it occurred to me that I can paint the ceiling a bright color, at least, so I do feel a little better now.
