now that my family are safe, i have no excuse (other than some transient pain, but i already took ketoprofen so i guess i don't have that excuse either) for my weird ennui. i think the problem was that i didn't finish what was supposed to be a very short piece of crackfic about band of princes before vacation, and even though i wrote a lot more of it while i was gone in spite of the disaster, i've lost some of my momentum for it. it's almost finished now, but it's also 9000 words, which means it's probably going to hit a thousand more before i manage to actually finish it.
another of my weird compulsions - like not writing more than one thing at once, for instance - is that i don't like to sidetrack myself in the middle of writing something by, say, watching anything that will claim my full attention, or reading anything that would do that. so even though i've started downloading the tenimyu and the prince of tennis manga, and we've got black powder war and throne of jade (and also my own copies of sorcery and cecelia and the grand tour ♥♥♥, which i finally got around to ordering), and my mom also finally found my copy of singin' in the rain... i haven't done much of anything in three days other than poke around after stray bits of tenipuri slash i may've missed and reread a georgette heyer mystery.
and, okay, yesterday i impulse-bought it - the only one in akademiska bokhandeln was they found him dead, but i can order the others from helsinki if i want to, and the fabulous thing is that a british publisher appears to be reissuing her mysteries in a set of very nice matching paperback editions! they have behold, here's poison too, and that's my favourite heyer mystery! ♥

Date: 28 Jun 2006 03:33 pm (UTC)Do we ever find out what ages the Jyousei guys are? I've been assuming that Kajimoto, Wakato and Reiji are in third year, and possibly the twins are second years, but I'm not sure about Ota and Kiriyama. On the other hand, considering Hanamura's training programme, no one is probably ready for the Regulars until their final year. And I imagine she pulls the strings in high school tennis too, since she gets them when they're young and shapes them into the image she desires. The high school couch is most likely a puppet, too, since Hanamura probably gets a lot of funding into Jyousei as well.
Um. There is a reason for this, I swear. ¬_¬

I'm so glad your family is okay, Cim. I'm glad your Dad's situation didn't worsen--I was worried at first. And I think you're close enough to finishing the BoP fic that you don't need to worry too much about lost momentum. You'll finish it when you finish. ♥ I can't wait til you do, but for now it's just good to have you back.

Date: 28 Jun 2006 10:32 pm (UTC)i am so glad to be back that i fantasised about kissing the ground when i arrived in finland. fortunately for my hygiene, it was a bit too chilly for that. i think at the moment my momentum is a bit slow because of niggling back pain and poor weather outside, but the end is more or less in sight (though i haven't written today). i can't be totally sanguine about finishing when i finish though, because i can never read manga or watch movies in peace until i do. :((
