usually i hate reality tv, and living in finland (with the tv unplugged) you'd think watching american reality tv would be the last thing i'd do, but [livejournal.com profile] thelionforreal squealed enough about project runway to me that i browsed through the website and eventually downloaded the episodes with torrents.  i'm now firmly hooked and am occupying myself with egging her on to write rpf based on the show (confidential to missi: uh, sorry about the sudden flurry of commentspam. i got excited).

but the real point of this post is how i'm a tim gunn fangirl, as is, apparently, just about everyone who watches it.  there's this great tim gunn love topic on the twop board which has already shown me two wonderful things:  this article and this t-shirt.  (on the other hand, it's also caused a lot of eye-rolling, such as when i read the long series of posts by people who were impressed by his use of the phrase "i responded well to", apparently believing he had coined it, several of them taking it upon themselves to explain at length why the phrase is useful.  "are the twop boards always like that?" i demanded, and wax said "well, um, ah, yes.")

anyway, that tshirt has moved to the top of my tshirts-i-need list.  i'm just glad i read about half of the season 1 recaps (even though i couldn't find any torrents), so i was able to get the reference.

oh i LOVE the 'don't defend the shoe to me.' oh tim. oh tim.

DON'T DEFEND THE SHOE TO ME, MISSI.

there's no way timmett wins, though, really. he's not really particularly innovative. i could call him classy, or girlish, or pretty, or even beautiful perhaps--creative, probably, but innovative, no.

Yeah, I would bet on Santino and Nick unless Santino throws a SPECTACULARRRR snit fit.

For the third.... you know, I'm going with Diana. She's inexperienced, but she's willing to listen to people and she does some damn beautiful stuff.

but there are supposed to be group eliminations next week. can she survive being on a team with marla? i guess we can just hope zulema and kara suck more--which is possible with zulema's unpredictability, but i do think both she and kara are technically much stronger than marla is.

Oh I watch that show, the challenges are great, and sometimes I sit and draw what I would do. I think however, usually the great designers are the quiet ones, and its' the drama queens that get the camera time, which makes it watchable. Heh heh.

i've never watched before this season, but i don't know, i think santino is definitely one of the best, and andrae is quite good, in the middle at least; and then there's chloe and daniel v and nick, also near the top, and they're quite quiet, but then zulema who actually hides from the camera (although when she's there she has no compunction about being loudly obnoxious) and is one of the weakest ones left. anyway, the Arteestic Temperament is, i think, spread evenly (or at least randomly) through the pool of artists, regardless of how good they actually are.
