cim: i'm so not up on this kind of thing.cuddlepint: no
cim: what is socially acceptable? you're fourteen, right?cuddlepint: yeah. um... i don't know.
cim: i think it should be okay then.cuddlepint: LOL!

And also, what the hell does Tezuka say at the end of Eien no Hi? It scared the bejeezus out of me to suddenly hear him speak. Was it "yaru janai ka"?

Date: 5 May 2006 06:29 pm (UTC)i am not a real speaker, but just thinking about my knowledge of japanese and sentence particles, "ka" is generally for questions while "ne" is the regular ", eh?/, huh?/, don't you agree?" asking for confirmation. i suppose "yaru jya nai ka?" could mean "wasn't it bad?"/"it wasn't bad, was it?", implying you expect to hear "no, it wasn't". but my instinct tells me your interpretation is right--like implicitly "so is your response 'yaru jya nai'?"

Date: 5 May 2006 08:41 pm (UTC)Now I haven't seen PoT at all so I don't really know how it's used in context, but going by what you guys have said I guess the translation would be, "Oh, you really did it, heh." Like, with a smirk. It's an odd usage to my mind, though... I feel like I should ask Richan, my PoT expert friend XD;

cimorene111: and even in the AU where tezuka is a dj and ryoma listens to the radio they are going forth together! somehow! symbolically! or something!
bookshop: But that day my heart was stolen When I coincidently heard your voice I'm dreaming on the radio There, always, I was looking at tomorrow Dreaming on the radio I really want to hear your voice tonight // If you ever feel uncertain about reaching for your dreams Just turn up the volume Can you hear my voice? Riding the wind to where you are Can this song reach you? To the far distant city in which you live Can you hear my voice? In the corner of your heart ....... god. put together these sound so unbelievably slashy they're almost NAUGHTY.;
cimorene111: yes!
cimorene111: and also, those two songs are unquestionably directly addressed to each other
bookshop: YES
bookshop: just klsajfl;ksdjlksdjlksda IT NEVER ENDS
cimorene111: i thought i'd found the ONE not slashy part of canon
cimorene111: but the only not slashy parts are ryoma's relationships with people who aren't tezuka.
bookshop: YES :X:X:X:X
bookshop: his song about momo, he's like
bookshop: affectionately talking about momo going after extra fries
