okay, wow. i really didn't think they were aiming to get rid of lola glaudini with elle's crazy plot! i've seen the crazy plot developing, but i was so sure they were aiming to milk it for long-term drama. perhaps the actress was looking for a way out, though!

i don't think i am really giving them too much credit here; i'm viewing this plot with a cynical eye (i should say viewed, or have been viewing, or something, perhaps). from my stance the greyness going on has been really obvious, not just that elle thinks she did the right thing but that there's a real ambiguity about what the right thing was; at least hotch's position, as her boss, is also right, because the system would fall apart if cops weren't watching each other. but as her teammate he was also wrong, backing her up poorly and coming in too little too late (and too heavy-handed) with a psych evaluation that she should've obviously had a loooong time ago. as hilarious as it was, the way he let her go back to work was also really stupid. and it's equally clear to me that the show isn't intending to present the situation as grey. i mean, i think they mean for you to feel sympathy for elle and understand her position, but the text just isn't layered enough to actually question what is right. i don't mind that in my mindless crime dramas, of the written or watched variety; it's a bit lame but doesn't necessarily dampen their charm; you have to expect 90% of everything to be crap anyway, right? so i've felt i was enjoying it with my eyes open, as it were. but if they were just using this as a way to get her off the show after all, perhaps i have been underestimating them. i mean, it's not a totally bad way - it's a hell of a lot better than they did on csi:ny - but if they drop elle's issues here it's going to be a little hollow.

this episode was also low on garcia/morgan: the moment consisted of him answering the phone "yeah?" and her saying "i love our relationship; it's like we hardly need words." obviously, to that. but, you know, more garcia/morgan is always better. i have to wonder if this was a case of too many women on the bridge? after all, garcia (kirsten vangsness) is a regular this season and she wasn't last season, so is she elle's replacement? i hope not (though if they gave her even more screentime i'd be the first one jumping for joy!). so does [livejournal.com profile] wax_jism. we hope they are at least going to bring in another female regular.

veronica mars.

i wonder if we're getting a new recurring character with the brother - and/or with laura san giacomo? i really enjoyed her plot thread this week. wax and i were both quite excited to recognise her. i was ready to like and dislike her about equally the whole time, which was pretty cool.

logan delivers some good emo. his real brother was sort of endearing, too, although he looked like he could turn out to be an asshole. i hope they do something interesting with that.

but there was no weevil! why was there no weevil?

and also... big lebowski quotage! two weeks in a row, as my better half pointed out. knowing your pop culture pays.

hey! you watch veronica mars too? cool. just watched that episode last night. too bad abt logan and his brother though...(matt czuchry wasn't bad as that reporter. i really thought he was the brother). laura san giacomo was ok...(although, halfway through i felt like the whole chemistry between her and keith was totally lost on me is a big nina/elliot fan)

oh! weevil's gonna be in the next episode! can't wait for that!!
