on a fascinating voyage through old rough lecture notes i discovered these paraphrased quotes from sartre... in swedish. and that struck me as wonderful.

om existentialism: "man bara ständigt visar på korsreferenser."
om marx: "marxism sätter allting på plats men klarar inte av att förklara någonting."

(on existentialism: you just constantly demonstrate cross-references.
on marx: marxism puts everything in its place but succeeds in explaining none of it.)

suddenly i want to ask sartre his opinion of other things.

i have no idea what the existentialist one is talking about, but maybe that's the point. i don't think existentialism ever has any idea what it's talking about.
