They have bagel-shaped dense bread that isn't bagels, though. You get a lot of those in Alabama too, but you can actually get real bagels there albeit not FRESH ones. (Frozen bagels = realer than some bagel shop bagels I've had although if you have access to real ones you might well sneer at them!)
Actually there's a "donut shop" in the mall that also doesn't understand the entire concept of donuts, although at least their donuts are of a kind that you could find in any donut shop. But they sell bagel sandwiches too, and they're not real bagels and they are also, bizarrely, stuffed with so much filling that they're like six inches thick and you can't bite them. And they SHRED the lettuce and then like SCOOP it in, it's just so bizarre.
Oh man. :( I love frozen waffles so much, actually more than homemade ones. They just get so nice and crunchy in the toaster.
I was going to say can't you have your folks send you Pop Tarts, but then I remembered it's your folks we're talking about, and if by some chance they actually managed to send Pop Tarts instead of say...Kleenex, they probably wouldn't be the right flavor anyway. XD
Oh, that could be cool! How do you do that usually? Finland's main claim to coolness with native food is chocolate. There are other kinds of Finnish candy but as far as I know, they are mostly licorice-based. Since I hate licorice I haven't had them, but in the unlikely event that you like licorice...
I don't like licorice, either. It doesn't have to be Finnish, I guess. Do you guys get British imports? Or any other European candy/chocolate is good, too. Or like Turkish Delight and that sort of thing. Just an assortment of non-American stuff. :D
Anyway, just email me at megchan@gmail.com with your address. Let me know if there's any other stuff you want, too.
Hahhahaha. Actually they've sent me unfrosted blueberry toaster pastries before! But the flavour isn't the most important part even if I have exclusively preferred that one flavour the entire time since I was like, seven. I mean, unfrosted blueberry were still a party for my tastebuds. XD
I'm not! Bagels and waffles are totally better for you than my usual breakfast food. Pop Tarts and Lucky Charms may be junk food, but it's not like I can't stand to gain 5kg. And sugar junkfood doesn't give that grody feeling afterwards that oily junkfood.
I was going to offer to mail you poptarts and cereal because that is a TRAVESTY, but I see someone has already offered. Still! If you ever need anything like that, I'm happy to send.
They don't have real bagels in Australia either D: We spent an entire semester pining after them, and muttering things like, "I bet they have bagels in PERTH." (At some point, we decided that everything that was lacking in Queensland was probably available on the other side of the continent in Perth. Mostly because we could never go check.)
I keep trying to EXPLAIN to Finnish people that they just don't UNDERSTAND junkfood/donuts/chips etc but they can't understand, because they don't. So. Oh well, my theory is - they didn't have the Industrial Revolution until the 1940s. So maybe they'll get junkfood in, you know, another... fifty years or something.
