Mischa Barton to star (alongside Danielle Panabaker) in movie about teenaged lesbians who fall in love at a Tatu concert and get addicted to drugs and get together to murder one of their mothers and then... spend their time in jail together? "The two girls who this story is based on are currently imprisoned in Russia," chirps the plot synopsis. o_O Tatu are playing themselves, of course.

The Wikipedia article is spoilery, but the movie is evidently based both on real events and on a successful novel (written by a Russian politician and a member of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia's Supreme Council o_O), so spoilers will perhaps be hard to avoid.

What... the?

Although, I've been waiting for Mischa Barton to play a lesbian role in a movie ever since Lost and Delirious.

I enjoyed the Sweeps Lesbians in the OC, which I don't watch. But [livejournal.com profile] silviakundera cut the lesbian plotline together and took the other stuff out, and finished it as if with a happy ending. She called it "The HomOC" and it was pretty great. Hmm, I think I lost the file, though...

I see Lost and Delirious was a lesbian indie movie, but Mischa wasn't actually one herself? Still, looks interesting.

I never watched the OC, but when I heard about that storyline I figured she was now only one step away from lesbian cinema.

Lost and Delirious was a cute movie, although the characters really pissed me off at times. Mischa is a third party to the story, and it's from her point of view.

Now I'm curious! I doubt I'll have an opportunity to obtain it over here though.

I actually used to watch The OC, and I have to say that they did the lesbian plot line pretty realistically and sensitively. The TV ad spots for those eps were just VILE, but the show itself did a really good job with it.

Yes, it was a transparent ratings stunt, but a FUN one! And you know, for once the lesbians weren't evil or dead. They just turned out to be mostly straight after all.

I was rooting for Tatu to play both themselves and tha fans. :/ That would have been so post-modern.

I think that qualifies as a rom-com by lesbian cinema standards.

Isn't that Heavenly Creatures updated a decade?

Several of the articles mention that (as well as other similar plots), but since it's based on real events, I guess it wasn't based on Heavenly Creatures.

Hey, I'm totally there! Although I have to say I kind of wanted a fluff version - you know, teenaged lesbians + Tatu - evil &/or dead.
