1) Do you read hobbitslash?
every now and then.
2) If so, what pairing(s)?
frodo/sam and merry/pippin, because other combinations of them just seem silly and counterintuitive, and i don't care very much about the other hobbits. bilbo is nice enough, but. hem. and then no one else is very interesting. and i don't like rosie, and i REALLY don't like rosie threesomes.
3) Do you write hobbitslash?
well, i have. i'm not sure if i'll get back around to it again.
4) If so, what pairing(s)?
see above.
5) And what's your pen name?
cimorene.
6) How did you get started reading and/or writing hobbitslash?
well, i read the whole trilogy about two weeks before the movie came out and when i was halfway through fotr i emailed
ellen_fremedon to ask her where the hobbitslash of which she had spoken could be found (she mentioned it in a trek community long ago). and lo and behold, i found the least expected archive. i started writing "waiting for courage" the night we got back from seeing the movie, even though it's all book canon. it took me a few weeks to finish. by that point, i had exhausted the archive (which was, at the time, very small).
7) For how long have you been in the fandom?
i read the hobbit in middle school. otherwise, i plunged into it in the week before the movie came out, when there were still fewer than 100 on tolkien_slash. (mind-boggling, no?)
8) If you are an author, list the titles of your fics like a good little self-promoting git so we can all track them down *muahah*:
waiting for courage (f/s), crush (m/p), and promise (l/g)
9) Character kinks?
careful and thoughtful characterization exploring sam/frodo. there should be more of it.
10) Character squicks?
poor characterization. just, no.
11) Do you belong to any of the mailing lists/message boards? If so, which?
tolkien_slash, hobbitslash, slashlords, lxf, tralala. the shire and fellowshippers. i don't actually read any of those lists, just post to them. and that not anymore, perhaps.
12) Favorite author(s)?
cara loup, adrienne and bill the pony. mcee had one that quite impressed me, i recall, too.
13) Favorite series (or series plural)?
not sure i have any.
14) Favorite story (-ies)?
you know, i have a recs page that's quite detailed.
15) Are you an artist, i.e. Do you draw?
yes, but not any slash or fanfiction stuff.
17) Have you ever collaborated with another artist or writer?
nope.
18) Describe your dream story--plot, players, pairing(s), who you'd like to write it/why you'd write it yourself, same for illustration, or why you'd do it all. You get the idea; anything goes. The point of this question is me having fun picking your brain, seeing what's wild and wonderful out there in the Land of Fandom Imagination.
i'm afraid i'm not very imaginative. i'd like
wax_jism to write something else, maybe. something else strange and titillating and kinky.
every now and then.
