my baby sister--age 10--found one of my mom's trash romances lying around this afternoon and spent the last few hours reading it (title: twins included). she thought it was terribly witty. then at 4:00 when i was to take her up to the university to meet my dad, she brought it in the car with her ("cim, i've been reading this book all day, and look! i'm almost done!").
why were we in the car? yesterday she decided to put the money she earns in an account, NOT her savings account, at the credit union. then, she could only get money out when my parents are willing to drive her there.
so today, after it had been agreed i'd take her (when she thought this morning that i couldn't fit it in she called daddy crying), we had this discussion in the car.
dad: lillian, did you bring your money?
lillian: ...oops. i forgot!
dad: hm.
me: HAHA
dad: well, i know you had at least five dollars... maybe i have some money.
me: don't banks have a minimum deposit?
dad: good point. well, we could stop by and find out how to do it and see what the minimum is...
lillian: DAD? i would be more than happy to suggest--i would be MORE than happy to suggest that.
dad: yes?
lillian: i would be more than happy to suggest that we stop by home [NOT on the way] and THEN go to the bank.
dad: except that it will be closed.
lillian: when?
dad: when we would get there. well, at five... which is in less than half an hour... i don't know. maybe we could make it.
...and needless to say, they went.
