So apparently in Finland, flat medium-sized cinnamon rolls are called "Big Texas Rolls". Thank you, Fazer. Glad to know it.

At least they taste good! Mm, cinnamon rolls. Even if they aren't soft and squishy and don't have icing.

Finns don't really have the knack of desserts. Or snack food. Or, like... sugar. Which is why people are so shocked by how good Toll House cookies are: they taste good because they're, like, solid butter and sugar.

Hmmm. I've never thought of that, but I guess Finns do have a somewhat peculiar taste in desserts. And baked goods - we're more into Karelian pies than sweet desserts. And what sweet desserts we have are pretty moderate in terms of sweetness. I mean, I can't even think of putting icing on cinnamon rolls. (Or anything else, for that matter. But that's just me.)

I think I would perish in a dessert-less land. I have such a sweet tooth.

Seriously, I asked Aki what snack was in Finnish and basically there is no real word for it (of course he came up with something but when you have to think about it then the word probably isn't really used very often). I have yet to try the Big Texas Rolls but maybe during my layover in Dallas I'll give 'em a shot.

I'm afraid the airports in actual Texas will probably offer mainly TJ Cinnamons or some other imitator with those big fucking cinnamon rolls that are like, the size of a dollhouse. With icing. Mmmmm. Maybe you would even be able to eat a whole one...

It's funny you mention it because I was actually re-reading your chocolate cake of DOOM recipe last night. I was even doing a mental inventory of my kitchen to see if I could make some myself, it sounded so good. I have everything but the electric mixer. :(

I have all of my recipes saved by the name of the person I got them from, and I just realized I have it saved under "Cim", even though I know your name. I guess I just never think of you as anything but Cim in my head!

Hahaha! Actually... neither do I... we've been hanging out with Wax's friends from work, who use her real name of course, but they still call me Cim because apparently she just tells everyone at work that my name is Cim too XD.

Incidentally, I think Fazer needs to cut down on the sugar in those rolls. Man. I'm glad you've never tasted a cinnamon roll like I make them, now. *g*

But in my head 'cake' totally means 'layered cake filled with whipped cream and jam and things'. I bet your taste buds would have you sprinkle some sugar on it though!
