cimorene: cartoony drawing of a woman's head in profile giving dubious side-eye (actually you have to push this button)

Two weeks ago [livejournal.com profile] bexless and I posted our matching Nesty Verse stories, "Absence Sort of Does Make the Heart" and "Conclusions". This story is set in the same alternate universe, where Ray is a studio musician, Gerard is an artist, and Frank runs an indie record label with Mikey's help. The story takes place a few years after "Absence...", in summer of 2006, just a few months before "Conclusions".

Worth It (≈20 000 words)
Bandslash: My Chemical Romance, Bob Bryar/Ray Toro
NC-17, AU, established relationship
Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] bexless and [livejournal.com profile] wax_jism.

"When I moved from my first apartment into the last one, I still had unpacked boxes lying around for a year afterwards. And I didn't have anybody staying around to help me unpack." (When your choice of free labor at short notice consists of high school kids, scene guys who may or may not have sucked you off at a recent party, or Gerard Way, that's understandable, thinks Bob.)

Oh good, I'm glad you got it done anyway. I had hardware problems, both in my computer and my brain. You got everything I can remember (in my vague memory of what I took notes about before there was a power failure last week and I lost the unsaved beta notes and didn't even realise it until last night when I tried to pick it up again) anyway. And I'm sorry.

And since I haven't said it yet, I like this story.

*flappy hands*

this is so awesome! holy shit! it reminds me of the part in LOTMS when Brian was like, i knew that this was the band that could get me off the road, get me to settle down. Ray is Bob's MCR! He's the one who can get Bob to settle down!

I love how tentative they still are with each other, how hesitant to assume things. they are such boys and should totally just sit down for a talk about how stupid they are for each other and how they want to be around each other all the time.

well done. heck. yeah.

Thank you very much! That is exactly what I was going for with this story, as completely sappy and fluffy as it is - I suppose nesting wouldn't be nesting without eventually settling down! I think at the end of this installment, however, they not only realise how stupid they are for each other, but are perfectly aware that they want to be around each other all the time. Finally!

Thank you! Bob and Ray are a nice finish to any day. Or at least, they would be.

Oh, this totally made my day. Bob and Ray, continuing as mostly-unspokenly as they began! This is adorable and hot and sweet, yay!

Oh, dude, definitely not in spite of! The only way it could have been better would be if they got a baby. and a kitten.

...and, sorry, then I pictured Nestyverse kidfic and my brain shorted out from the cuteness.

Oh, BOYS! I'm normally not a big fan of established relationship fic, but I loved this--so warm and funny and hot and domestic. I want to read about this Bob and Ray FOREVER.

I actually frequently hate established relationships. I'm a big fan of fluff, though, and I kind of want to write about this Bob and Ray forever, even though I don't have any plot left...

There is a terrible deficit of Bob/Ray fics in the world, so the thanks is all in your corner.

*forehead wrinkle* I don't remember anything like that and I thought I'd pretty much read all of the mediocre fic and at least half the badfic in existence, certainly all of the fic that I might conceivably like. But possibly I skipped it for breaking up Frank and Gerard, I suppose.

The amount of hand flapping that I did as I read this fic was a little scary. I think I pulled a muscle or something. IOW, this was awesome and a natural progression of their relationship.

This universe is all kinds of awesome! I enjoyed reading this just as much as I enjoyed reading the other two stories. I particularly love how Bob just sneakily stops going on tour and gets jobs in the vicinity. Hee!
Thank you so much for writing and sharing this! :)
