Haven't commented in a looooong time, but - I read that fic in question and I honestly wondered for a moment whether the two had maybe turned into cats for that particular encounter, because it would explain everything! Cats can have more than one father for a litter, cats don't use condoms and if they were to turn into cats, they would probably forget it afterwards. ...And it's actually just as probable as what the author wrote. XD

Yeah, it might be possible - if it's possible for other mammals, it should theoretically be possible for humans as well - but the chance of that happening ...is kind of not so high. XD (But whatever it is, one has to applaud the author for creativity, at least.)
