- Jared Padalecki, actor, no stranger to tragedy and loss, inherits a run down castle in the wilds of Scotland. Garvald Castle. On the edge of a breakdown he leaves all he knows in LA and goes to this new country to hide. Jensen Ackles, designer and writer, driven to Scotland from his home country some ten years before, takes an interest in the stories of the Ghost of Garvald Mains. Will either survive when the ghost becomes something more than a story? [The weird thing is that I'm nearly positive I've read this story already in an ooooooold classic The Professionals AU that was also set in Scotland, even though Bodie and Doyle are British, not Scottish, and they do actually have castles in England as well. So I have to wonder, now, if there's a whole subgenre of the modern gothic/ romance thriller genre dedicated to inheriting haunted Scottish castles? Not that the existence of such a genre would be surprising. In fact, my main reaction is 'Why isn't this a bigger fandom cliché? GET ON THAT, FANDOM.]
